A total of twenty nine (29) public high schools were invited to join the Mabel Sunga Acosta Search for Campus Journalist of the Year 2008. Among the 29 schools, at least 20 schools from the three congressional districts of Davao have signified their interest to participate in this year’s competition.
This Year’s Grand Prize Winner will receive a medal of excellence and a cash prize of Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos, (Php 2,500). The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Runners-up will also receive a medal each and a cash prize of Two Thousand Pesos (Php 2,000), One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 1,500) and One Thousand Pesos (Php1,000), respectively.
This year's competition is in partnership with the Don Cesareo Villa-Abrille Scholarship Foundation. Its President, Atty. Leoncio P. Villa-Abrille, is an advocate of responsible journalism and supports programs that help promote excellence and integrity in the field of journalism and education.
SUBMISSION DATE of entries will be on March 10, 2008, Monday, NOT later than 5:00pm. Qualified nominees will undergo on the spot news writing and photo appreciation activity and panel interview with top caliber journalists from print and broadcast media outfits on March 12, 2008 from 8:00 in the morning till 12:00 noon.
