Thoughts and Acts for Peace

On today's session, Sisters Shanti, Irene Santiago, Arlene Lozano, Geeay Arriola and Karen Abayon from Mindanao Commission on Women, Lorna Mandin and her staff from the City Integrated Gender and Development Division brought to us thier greetings for peace in line with the celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace and the campaign for the Million TAPs which was launched on national TV, on ANC's "Talk Back with Tina Palma" show on September 1. This Campaign is an apt reminder to everyone especially to the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod as peace stakeholders of the peace process.

A Million TAPs for Peace (Thoughts and Acts of Peace) campaign runs from 1st day of September until 3rd day of December 3, 2008 which was organized by the Mindanao Commission on Women and Mothers for Peace. The objective of the campaign is to involve as many people as possible in the campaign for nationwide and global peace by giving minutes spent in thoughts of peace through silence, prayer, or meditation and sharing minutes of peace by doing acts of peace. It allows people to take a break from their daily routines to think peaceful thoughts and do peaceful acts , thereby achieving inner peace and contributing to peace in our world.

It is part of the celebration of the United Nations Decade of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence to Children of the World (2000-2010), and the Mindanao Week of Peace.

It aims to gather TAPs (thoughts and acts of peace) from individuals through:

• hardcopy participation forms to be sent to local organizers;
• online participation forms in this site
• texting to Globe or Smart

Never underestimate the power of a million
thoughts and acts of peace!

A single thought has changed the world.
How much more a million thoughts?
A single act has changed the world.
How much more a million acts?

Give minutes of peace
by creating positive and peaceful thoughts
through silence, prayer, or meditation.

Share peace
by doing acts of peace.
