2013 ACOSTA CUP: A DECADE OF FOOTBALL PARTNERSHIP


A week before Halloween, the 2013 Acosta Cup was launched to the excitement of scores of lady footballers in the city.  

The 10th edition of this annual football tournament opened up with two back-to-back matches last October 26 – D’DS Tigs vs. D’DS Khanj, with the former winning the game at six to two, and PWC Patriots vs. Ateneo Blue Knights, with last year’s champion starting the season with a victory against the Ateneans at five to one.

The roster of teams this year is completed by SOS Davao Football Club, UP Mindanao, and UM-Tambayan United.  The tournament will run until December 15, 2013.

The next set of games will be played on November 10, Sunday, at Tionko Football Field (formerly Agro) between SOS Davao FC and UM-Tambayan United (8:00am), and UP Mindanao and PWC Patriots (1:00pm).

Acosta Cup was organized in 2004 under the auspices of City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta in coordination with the Davao Football Association.  This year’s event is made possible by the consistent support of Primo CafĂ© & Grille, ULTICON Builder’s Inc., Mergrande Ocean Resort, NCCC, and Jollibee Davao-JTC Group of Companies.
