Last April 14, 2015 around 1:30 pm Team Acosta together with
some youth volunteers and Mr. Dennis Lloyd Tecson went to Barangay 28-C to
conduct a Livelihood Skills Training focused on how to make a dishwashing liquid. The training taught the residents the step by step procedure to make their own dishwashing liquid soap which in return is helpful perhaps for future businesses or even saving their money from spending on soaps. According to the record, there
were around 55 people who participated and acquired new knowledge through the
activity.
Of course the event won’t end without a sumptuous Moringa
Tuna Lugaw served hot for the people. Overall, the event was filled with useful
information and delicious food that everyone enjoyed.

Funfacts: Did you know that the scientific name of Malunggay
is Moringa oleifera? Malunggay is also known
in the Philippines as Horseradish Tree which bears its green “miraculous”
leaves. This is tagged as so because of the many nutritional and medical properties
it contains. The Moringa leaves which we often have in our vegetable soup are great
sources of good cholesterol which is known to protect against cardiovascular
diseases. It is also a well known stimulant for milk production for
breastfeeding mothers. Today, people are being innovative and healthy with
beverages. Thus, having the benefits of Moringa, it is made into Moringa Tea which is then
used as a base for milkteas. This is much better than drinking coffee because
Moringa tea does not contain caffeine.
