It was once known as Regional Hospital then Davao Medical Center (DMC) and now Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC). SPMC is a government hospital that implements different business strategies like Private Public Partnerships and drug consignments with pharmaceutical companies. They also implement strategies that augments their income in addition to the government subsidy using social insurance reimbursements.

Here are some things you can consider about SPMC. And oh! This is not your ordinary public hospital :)

1. Bagong-bago. They have a new building open for public service last October 2014. The hospital can be located at J.P Laurel Ave., Bajada, Davao City.
2. Emergency Room at its BEST! You will think you are in the lobby of the airport waiting for your flight as you sit on the benches of the ER. The ambiance, the cold breeze of the fully air conditioned room and the design will make you feel you're not in a hospital.

But wait there's more!! Their emergency room is equipped with facilities and instruments in the Trauma, Medical and Paediatric departments.
And they have adjustable beds that will accommodate the patient's situation.

8. They have an awesome technology called Pneumatic Tube which is used to transport medicines, documents, bills, etc. to other offices. This saves time and effort and very practical. It saves personnel costs as well. The travel time is so fast you cannot see the item being transported.

9. Awesome storage system and office! Records can be viewed any time without retrieval costs. You can view your documents from years back.
Online access of the documents are also available through the portal of SPMC. Their data center holds all the data of the hospital and medical results.

11. They have a plan to have "Telemedicine and Radiomedicine system"- The management is planning to pilot it in Malita and Calinan. It's like, your laboratory results will be sent automatically to the hospital for interpretation. However, this is still on trial. According to the management, hopefully before the end of the year this will be launched. This is first in the whole country and is an initiative of SPMC management led by Dr. Vega.
