One Night at the Dorm (Maa City Jail Concert for a Cause)

They say "be careful when you're inside, all the bad people are stored there". This is the typical stereotype of the people outside the prison cells to those locked behind the bars. People tend to stigmatize and generalize those who once in their life committed a mistake punishable by the law. But the "bakasyonistas" of the Women Dormitory of Maa City Jail will surely give you a deep self check.

The moment you step inside their premises, you will definitely go out different. By this it means in a positive way. Having all those negative images about detainees will really melt away as you see the reformed lives of every individual inside. The value of family, friendship, unity and respect are very visible in their community.

Team Acosta was given a chance to see and experience first hand the beauty and talents of the bakasyonistas. On its 2nd Season now, the inmates of the Female Dormitory of the Maa BJMP showcased their singing, dancing, acting and artistic talents through a concert for a cause. The proceeds of this concert will go to the pipping project of the BJMP. This will serve the drainage and water system of their community.

The concert was very spectacular and the performers really gave a very good show. They transformed into stars and concert queens showing off their awesome talents to a very energetic and enthusiastic audience. Everyone was wowed by their performance level productions and heart melting lyrics of their original compositions.

The performances of the detainees ranged from cultural to contemporary sing and dance. Overall, the audience were very satisfied of the show and went home with a smiling face. The families and friends of the performers were very proud of them, seeing them grow and be reformed while spending their life inside the bars.

There is always a chance if you keep on seeking for the better. People fail and commit mistakes, but this shouldn't be a reason to condemn others. We all commit our own mistakes, it is just that they are paying theirs big time. Let us give time to appreciate the transformation and lives of the women detainee of Maa City Jail. Also, this will not be possible without the good governance of the Police officials. Kudos to all the performers who gave their best to give an awesome show. And to all the Police Officials who guided and supported all of them!
