The annual Brigada Eskwela, a before start of school volunteering activity by the Department of Education, is here once again. In this year's Brigada Eskwela, Team Acosta in partnership with VCPC Law Office, SSEAYP and forces of Team Acosta scholars have been joining the back to school preparation of Davao City elementary and high schools.
As we kick off our Day 1 of Brigada Ekwela 2017, Team Acosta led by Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta visited Davao National High School, Councilor Mabel's alma mater, for the turn-over of donated shovel sponsored by the VCPC Law Office. It was duly received by the SSG President Ms. Cared, who gave the letter of request inviting the office to extend a little help to lessen their need.

Team Acosta was also able to visit Talomo Elementary School where the signature Moringa Tuna Lugaw was served to the student, parents, faculty and other volunteers present. Councilor Mabel Acosta was able to go around the school vicinity and checked out their small organic urban container gardening area. According to Ms. Boze, a faculty of the said school, students from Grades 4-5 are the ones taking care of their garden produce and make sure that the plants are healthy.

Right after Talomo Elementary School, Councilor Acosta quickly visited the barangay hall of Talomo with Punong Barangay Bendor Calamba together with some of the Barangay Council Members and functionaries.

Next stop is Jose Bastida Elementary School. Team Acosta served Moringa Tuna Lugaw and Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta paid a visit to the very active and passionate teachers of the school. Lunch was a blast, as the team sat together with PB Culaste in celebration of San Isidro fiesta.

In the afternoon, Team Acosta joined forces with VCPC Law office with some volunteers of the roster of Team Acosta Scholars in painting and cleaning Roxas Elementary School. With the donations from various sponsors, Team Acosta was able to repaint some walls of the school. Councilor Mabel and the school faculty and staff together painted the outer classroom walls of a building in the said school. The team also served Moringa Tuna Lugaw to everyone who were there.

That is just the first day of Brigada Eskwela for Team Acosta. This back to school preparation will be up for days and we encourage everyone to join and participate.
You can be involved in terms of donations such as paints, brushes, rollers, brooms, etc. You can also lend a hand of help to the nearest elementary and high schools near you.
Let us make a step for a brighter and better education for our children and youth. Be part of the change we all want to achieve. LET US VOLUNTEER!
