The Indak-indak displays the diverse, yet unified culture of Davao.

The ethnic musical instruments made from basic raw materials provide the sound of  Kadayawan which the whole city heard aloud.

Despite the heat and the intensity of the street dance competition, participants still managed to show their smiles.

The various props and astonishing costumes of the competitors reveals Davao's colorful culture and great history.

Every person who smiles is beautiful.

Kaan sa Da'n Food Fiesta

Food and festivities marked the week-long Kaan sa Da'n street food festival at the Freedom Park, Roxas Avenue. Offering a variety of good food for low prices, the stalls in the food festival were flocked by hungry Davaoenos and tourists.

Kaan sa Da'n not only satisfied the food cravings of those who came, but treated them with good music and entertainment as well. Stomachs and ears were filled with the wonderful offerings the food festival had to offer.

The rains that scattered throughout the Kadayawan week did not disperse the public who were in need of food and fun at the Kaan sa Da'n. Davaoenos proved that nothing can stop the festivities of Kadayawan, especially when it comes to food and fun.

Floral Float Parade

Bright colors and unique designs showcased the bountiful harvest celebrated during  Kadayawan festival in the Pamulak sa Kadayawan - Floral Float Parade last August 17, Sunday.

Picturesque floats filled with flowers and fruits flaunted Davao's rich harvest and displayed unique Filipino creativity in the incorporation of native themes, blended with modern design and ingenuity. From the charming little floats to the extravagantly decorated ones, each one was a work of art. 

Despite the heat and the crowd, many still came to watch the float parade, not missing one of the highlights of the Kadayawan celebration. Music from participating bands livened the parade as groups from different sectors joined the parade march. The public marvel at each display and showed their appreciation through applause and praise. Tourists and locals alike gathered to the floats after the parade to have their pictures taken with their favorite designs.

68 participating groups joined the parade which included not only the competing and non-competing floats, but school marching bands, numerous Davao-based organizations and companies, government employees and representatives from the different indigenous tribes as well. Of those competing for the floral float contest, the floats of Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde and International Pharmaceutical Inc. (IPI) won the alternative and traditional categories, respectively.

The Pamulak truly proved itself to be one of the highlights of the Kadayawan, gathering a diverse crowd together to celebrate the beauty and bounty of Davao.
