COMELEC ready for the 2007 Synchronized Barangay and SK Elections
In the official Website of the COMELEC , Acting Comelec Chairman Resurreccion Borra announced that preparations for the Oct. 29 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are already in place.
He said that the Commission has been preparing seriously, from printing, to allocation (of funds), designation of assignments and procurement of supplies, the timetable seems to indicate that we are on track. He added that the Comelec is in close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces in monitoring areas with “political tension.”
Borra cautioned the candidates that they are allowed to spend only P3 for each voter in their respective barangays. He said that under the law, the barangay (and SK) elections are non-partisan and inexpensive.
