SEARCH FOR THE 2008 CAMPUS JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR IS ON

The Office of Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta in cooperation with the Department of Education will once again be holding the Search for Campus Journalist of the Year Award.

This annual event, which started in 2002, is open to any bonafide 3rd and 4th year students from any public high school in Davao City.

On March 12, 2008, final nominees of the Search will be invited to participate in on-the-spot news writing and photo appreciation activities and will undergo a panel interview with top caliber journalists from the print and broadcast media outfits.

The 1st Prize winner will be receiving a distinguished Medal of Excellence which will be awarded to him/her during his/her graduation or recognition day. The school represented by the 1st Prize winner will likewise receive a Plaque of Recognition and will be featured in the Mabel At Your Service public affairs radio program, together with the Runner-ups of the Search.

Councilor Acosta sponsors this annual competition with the belief that the present generation needs young and bright individuals who are dedicated to the development of journalism within their respective schools and who are very much interested in improving their own distinctive skills in journalism. The search would no doubt aid the aspiring students to realize their dreams and ambitions of becoming one of the best student journalists in the city.
