Mabel at Your Service 6th Year Anniversary Deworming Activities

Intestinal infections are prevalent in most developing communities, and school-age children harbor some of the most intense infections, which produce adverse effects on health, growth, and school performance. As part of Mabel at Your Service Public Affairs Program’s 6th Year monthlong anniversary activities, last April 2, 6.11 & 21, 2008 the program conducted a deworming activity in Barangay 19, 76-A and 74-A to address this problem.

In partnership with the Barangay Councils of Barangay 19, 76-A and 74-A, a total of 325 children under 12 years old were given deworming medication to eliminate parasites in the body. The program also addresses the problem of sanitation in the environment to make the surrounding clean, free from harmful bacteria, thus breaking the cycle of the intestinal parasites.
