This year’s Mabel Sunga Acosta Search for Campus Journalist of the Year (CJTY) proved to be more exciting than ever. After undergoing a one-hour editorial writing contest followed by a grueling panel interview with three (3) distinguished judges in the persons of Mr. Tony Ajero (Editor-in-Chief of Edge Davao), Ms. Ethel Constantino (Reporter of NBN Mindanao) and Mr. Bernard Julian Patiño (Instructor of U.P. Mindanao), four (4) students stood out among the rest. They are:
Campus Journalist of the Year: Jeffrey Christian M. Josol (Talomo NHS)
1st Runner-up: Lorenz Jim C. Taroja (Talomo NHS)
2nd Runner-up: Honey Joyce B. Toralba (Sta. Ana NHS)
3rd Runner-up: Karen Jane L. Acasaran (
Kudos to the victors! On the other hand, we wish to give our appreciation to the other participants: Mark Jayvee V. Castillo of Daniel R. Aguinaldo NHS, Julie E. Leyva of (Talomo NHS) and Rowena Jean S. Quiza of Sta. Ana NHS.
The Office of Councilor Acosta would like to thank the Board of Judges for taking a time out of their busy schedules to give us a helping hand in the success of the activity. Gratitude is likewise extended to our sponsors without which support the 2009 CJTY would not have been realized: Atty. Leoncio P. Villa-Abrille, Dr. Roy B. Ferrer, DIMDI Centre, Inc., FPJ Farms, Inc., and CBS Metal Craft.
