Davao City mourns for President Cory Aquino

Metropolitan Manila is not alone in grieving over the loss of a truly extraordinary Filipina.

Davao City shares the bereavement of the nation in the demise of the much-beloved Ms. Corazon C. Aquino, the first woman president of the Philippines and so-called mother of democracy. In the Sangguniang Panlungsod, arrangements were made in order that the public can extend their condolences and messages of support and love to the family of the former president.

As can be gleaned from the photos above, Dabawenyos of all walks of life, regardless of age and religion, expressed their lamentation over Mrs. Aquino’s death by writing in booklets set-up in a table near the entrance of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building. The booklets will then be sent to the surviving Aquino family as a way of showing to them the City’s commiseration for their grief and loss, and its respect for what their mother symbolized to the Filipino masses.
