Davao City joins the celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor)


73rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor)


Every 9th of April, the Philippines celebrates Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor). This celebration commemorates the sacrifices of those who fought for the country during World War II. This year 2015, is the 73rd year in which the country remembers all the sacrifices of our selfless heroes. The City of Davao also took part with the celebration and gave its salute to all who sacrificed and served the nation with their lives. The celebration was headed by the Office of the City Mayor and joined by the various government offices, especially those in the security department.

The tribute happened around Veterans Memorial Circle along the Freedom Park in Davao City. During this celebration, different offices who work for national security paid homage to those who selflessly sacrificed their lives for the country.

Funfacts: Did you know that Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) is also called as “Bataan and Corregidor Day”? This is to commemorate the Fall of Bataan during the World War II. Next year April 9, 2016, Araw ng Kagitingan falls on a Saturday.
