Attending the Regular Session today, Ret. Major General Benito Antonio De Leon, who introduced himself as the City Council welcomes him being the new Chairperson of the Public Safety and Security Command.

He laid down the plans and programs of his office which include:
-the pursue of what is stipulated in the executive order issued by the City Government of Davao in the safety and security;
-taking a look at the security gaps in order to improve the safety of Davao;
-looking into the organizational aspect to provide coordinated mechanisms for the office;
-look into and address the lack of cctv cameras and personnels.

With the increase of visitors, tourists, politicians and influx of people in the city, there is also an increase of challenge for the team to provide maximum safety and security for the locals and visitors.


He also stated in his short speech that the security forces are "tripling" their efforts for the safety of the city and the people.

In addressing the safety and security of the students, Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta established a partnership with HEDCOR Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Power, which supports education as one of its corporate social responsibilities. HEDCOR Inc. sponsored the construction of a concrete perimeter fence at Mintal Central Elementary School worth 2.785 million peso to effectively prevent the students from going to or through the conveyance canal at the back of the school, which poses danger to students. The request was approved on November 18, 2014 and the construction of the perimeter fence started on June 29, 2015.

The area was surveyed by Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta herself together with the Principal II of Mintal Elementary School Ms. Estrella Villanueva. The turn-over ceremony was held last October 21, 2015 at the school premises of Mintal Elementary School, Tugbok District, Davao City. The turnover ceremony was attended by School Principal of Mintal Elementary School, Estrella Villanueva, Vp for Aboitiz Power Rolando G. Pacquiao, 3rd District Councilor Myrna Dalodo Ortiz, Mintal PB Ramon Bargamento II with his barangay councils and Ms. Aileen Mabanding, Admin Manager of Aboitiz Power.

The signing of the Deed of Donation then followed after the short program. It was witnessed by Ms. Diddy Dalodo-Ortiz, Mr. Emmanuel Medel, Geid Manager, Atty. Jonas Piore, Education Program Specialist and representative of Dr. Paguican and lastly, Ms. Adeline Go, supervisor of Tugbok District
The concrete fence project that stretches 420 meters amounts to more than Php 2,100,000. This ensures the security and safety of the students and everyone within the area of the school.
