Team Mabel conducted its first Barangay lecture for 2008 last January 4 (Friday).
The lecture was held in the session hall of Barangay 14-B. There was a complete attendance by the Barangay 14-B officials, headed by Barangay Captain Agnes Lira. The Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson and members were also there to listen.
It was a short three-hour lecture. It was started by Jez Babatid, who gave an overview of what a barangay is, its composition and its powers and duties. He was then followed by Mayette Puentespina, who talked about the barangay parliamentary proceedings, particularly how sessions are conducted and how barangay resolutions and ordinances are enacted.
The lecture ended with an open forum where the Sangguniang Bayan members present clarified some points discussed.
