The Opening of the Kadayawan 2008 was held last August 18, 2008 at People's Park. The festival opening was celebrated by thanksgiving mass, performances by the 10 different tribes of Davao City, presentation of the chosen 10 candidates of the Hiyas ng Kadayawan 2008, announcement of the Kadayawan activities, and ends with the Lighting of the Festival Fire.
The opening is graced by our very own City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte and is well attended by the honorable councilors, government employees, non-government organizations representatives, private sector sponsors and supporters, visitors, tourists and park goers.

First pa jud nako to nga nakaadto sa opening sa kadayawan councilor,gisugdan jud nako pati mass,para kumpleto jud ang tibuok celebration sa kadayawan.
